A work-class underwater ROV is built with a large flotation pack on top of an aluminum chassis for buoyancy. The construction of the aluminum frame varies depending on the manufacturer’s design. Operators may fit a tooling skid at the bottom of the system to accommodate sensors or tooling packages. Syntactic foam is often used as the flotation material.
Smaller than work-class vehicles, survey vehicles are often sub-classified as either Class I: Observation Only or Class II Observation with payload.
Sea-View Diving brings you several models of underwater remotely operated vehicles to complement your underwater search equipment inventory.
The 3rd generation of JW Fishers’ ROV, the SeaLion-3, is the most sophisticated submersible to date. The new, standard turnkey system offers the most sensors and payloads of any other ROV on the market at no additional cost. No more paying higher prices for the necessary tools needed to complete your mission.
This SeaLion-3 can dramatically reduce search time and the high costs associated with diver-based inspections. With the SeaLion-3, your team can locate, inspect, and videotape a target without entering the water. The SeaLion-3 can also narrow the search area so that when divers are required, their time is spent on the target instead of swimming grid patterns. When outfitted with a metal detector (JW Fishers RMD-1), the ROV can search for weapons, unexploded ordnance, pipelines, anchors, buried treasure, or other metallic objects. When an optional sector scanning sonar is added, the searching capabilities become endless and allow for searching in “zero visibility” conditions.
The RMD-1 is a high performance Pulse induction metal detector which can be attached to almost any remotely operated vehicle or towed underwater system as shown in the photo.
