David F. McAmmond
[submitted by Marion Fritz]
Staff Captain David Foster McAmmond of the Salvation Army was
rescued the night the Empress sank. He was born in 1869, was married to
Linnie Brady, and they both died in 1950.
Marion Fritz says: That she remembers being told that
he survived because he was an excellent swimmer. Because of his survival my mother
insisted that we all learn how to swim as he credited his survival on his swimming
ability. The Salvation Army Headquarters in Toronto, Canada should have all the names of
the Salationists that survived. I understand that they have an annual
MemorialService for the survivors.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this good information. My son found your info
and called me. It brought tears to my eyes.
