Empress of Ireland

Final Voyage - Passenger & Crew Tribute

Sidney Francis Hobson
[submitted by Dave Hobson]

Sidney Hobson had sailed a number of times.  He subsequently went on to serve in the arny in WW1 and WW2 going back to sea between the wars and finally passing away in 1945.

I have attached a scan of a newspaper clipping from a Liverpool paper showing some of the survivors, my Grandfather is on the left, sorry about the quality.

I also have his seamans book showing a great number of transatlantic crossings as a steward.  It is reputed that he did the traditional running away to sea to join up as a bugler.
